Chodorow is a psychoanalyst in private practice and a professor of sociology at the University of California-Berkeley. She is the author of the above-mentioned books as well as numerous articles, chapter contributions and commentaries in the fields of object relations and psychoanalytic feminism.
This book was recently chosen by Contemporary Sociology as one of the ten most influential books of the past 25 years. Her points in this book can be separated into four main ideas: In the revised edition, Chodorow sharpens these critiques through revision.
